Sweet Thanksgiving Feast

Okay, so no offense to the other cakes I've made but by far these were my favorites! These cupcakes were for a party at work right around Thanksgiving. For our Thanksgiving "feast" we have turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and butter, peas and carrots and pumpkin and cherry pies. I got the idea from the 2 new magazines I bought, "Hello Cupcake". Everyone loved these and I had SO much fun making them!

The Force

I had so much fun making these cupcakes! This was for Dylan's birthday, I want to say his 7th. So he requested chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and a Star Wars theme so, we have Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Yoda! Also, if you look at the way they're layed out, it sort of looks like Darth Vader's helmet and I didn't even try to do that, lol!

Carter's Camo

Carter just turned 12, he had a paintball party and wanted a camo cake to celebrate! This cake was a white cake with vanilla frosting and then covered in fondant. In stead of coloring the fondant I actually painted the camo look. Happy Birthday Carter!

Princess Mackenzie

Hole in One

So this was for a family friend's birthday. Jerry loves golf, so this is a golf ball sitting in a patch of grass! I wish I could've made little holes in the golf ball like a regular golf ball, but he still liked it! Happy Birthday Jerry!

Ariel is so my favorite

First of all, when I was growing up, Ariel was AMAZING! She was my favorite, I loved the movie, had a sleeping bag and had a doll, and she's still my favorite, but this isn't about me! This cake I made for my niece Maegan, she turned 5 and wanted a princess cake! The characters are frozen buttercream transfers that actually worked! This was my first time to use the transfers and they turned out pretty good I think! I definitely learned some tricks while working with the transfers and have a better idea of what to do next time. This cake was so much fun to make because I felt like I was 5 again, it really makes me want to go back and watch all my VHS movies with these princesses! Thanks for taking me back Maegan and Happy Birthday sweetie!

Quilting

So I made this cake for a relative of a friend at church. The family was having a baby shower and my friend asked if I could make a cake with butterflies similar to the ones on the actual baby's quilt, I decided how about I do the whole quilt? So here it is, the actual cake at the top, the quilt on the right. I know they're not identical, but I thought they were pretty close! I did have to change it up a bit in order to fit the wording in, but I really liked this cake, it was definitely special because of the uniqueness!

Happy 13th!

So this was Kinsey's 13 Birthday Cake! I absolutely loved this cake, it was everything I loved when I was 13! This was a chocolate cake with homemade buttercream icing, covered in zebra print with flowers, peace signs and smiley faces. Happy Birthday Kinsey!

Fall is Here... Hopefully

This was another cake I made today for our Sunday school "mom" Mrs. Rhonda. Her birthday was yesterday and so I decided to make her a fall birthday cake in hopes that it would bring fall weather with it! Happy Birthday Mrs. Rhonda!

Princess Pink

Here's a cake I did this morning for Lauren, today was her actual birthday so of course she had to have a cake! This was her "princess" cake, and the only requirement was that her dress was pink, so there you have it, Princess Pink!

Phineas and Ferb

This is my sweet nephew Charlie and his birthday cake I made back in April. This cake wasn't too terribly difficult, of course I did spend the week prior to the party constantly doodling Phineas and Ferb to make sure they looked right, but it was worth it! Happy Birthday Charlie!

25 Years

This cake was for the 25 year anniversary of our associate pastor at church and his wife. I've known this family since they've moved to town and I was honored to make this cake! Their daughters asked me to use the lilac colored ribbon because that was the color used at the wedding, very creative I thought! Love this family and loved making this cake! Happy Anniversary Mike and Teresa!

Gone Fishin'

So here's the larger cake for Ryan and Tripp, I absolutely loved making this cake, definitely a challenge, but worth the while! Happy Birthday Ryan and Tripp!

So this was my cousin Tripp's 1st birthday cake! He and his brother Ryan have birthdays in September so their mom combined their parties and they all went fishing and had a fish fry! This was Tripp's personal cake, the next post will have the boys' big cake. I had so much fun making this cake, it hardly took anytime because it was so tiny! Happy Birthday Tripp!

Kittys Like Water Too!

This cake was for a little girl I babysit, Miss Lauren. She and I talked several times about what she wanted for her birthday cake and we finally decided on Hello Kitty! Lauren was having a pool party for her birthday so we put Hello Kitty in a bathing suit and it had to be in pink and purple because those are Lauren's favorite colors! Lauren loved her cake and I was happy to make it for her. Happy Birthday Lauren!

Pretty in Pink

This was Miss Elle's 1st birthday cake, obviously! Her mom wanted a Minnie Mouse cake and we decided to make her ears pink instead of black mostly because pink tastes better than black and also because one of the ears was Elle's personal cake and 1 year olds and black icing don't really mix! Mom and Dad said the cake was great, dad said it was even better for breakfast the next morning! I had a blast making this cake, especially putting my own little spin on it! Happy Birthday Elle!

Boomer Sooners!

So this was the cake I made for my sister-in-law, Amy. Amy is the mom of my niece who wanted the half razorback half OU cake I posted a couple of days ago. The cake is a checkerboard design that I saw on a cake show and really wanted to try out, it was a little difficult but with some more trial runs I think I could get it down pretty well. The cake was chocolate and vanilla with homeade buttercream icing and I had fun making it for a great sister-in-law!

Surprise!

So this was a cake for my aunt's surprise birthday party, I absolutely loved this cake! The cake is lime green with a zebra center, obviously, and then I did a monogram look for her initials because my aunt does beautiful monogramming, I really enjoyed doing this cake!

Home Divided

So I made this cake for my niece Savannah, she comes from a home that's divided, no, not like a divorced family, but a divided football family. Savannah's dad, my brother, is an Arkansas Razorbacks fan and her mom is an OU Sooners fan, so Savannah is a fan of both and decided to have that on her cake! This cake was really fun to make, I knew each family member would be pleased! The cake was chocolate with homeade buttercream, the OU part was REALLY easy, the razorback was a little harder but definitely worth it! Happy Birthday Savannah!

Baby Cakes

So this is one of the most recent cakes I did, it was a baby shower cake for my cousin Aimee and her daughter Karson. Karson was a premi and we didn't get to have her with us at the shower but she's home and healthy now, what a blessing! The cake was strawberry with homeade fondant, and the pink circles are strawberry milk duds. The cake turned out great and complimented the goregous decorations my sister and grandmother did. Loved doing this cake, it was made with lots of love! Welcome home baby Karson!

Welcome to my blog, AB caKes! No, that's not a typo, it's the name for my hopefully later in life but not too later in life cake shop! I started baking and decorating cakes in January and have loved it ever since! So, this is my blog about cakes, I'm hoping to use this blog to gain new customers and showcase the cakes that I've done so far. Pictures will be posted soon!
